Well today I was coming back from looking at a X-90 that is for sale here, I was on the interstate goin about 60 and the rear end got real Squirelly (sp?). Well I thought i just hit a puddle and was hydroplaning a little ( it has rained most of the day) So I slowed down but it was still there so I pulled over and This is what I saw :'( :'( :'( :'(. So after a $125.00 tow bill (which is not too bad seeing as i had to get the tracker towed on a roll back for 80 miles) I am putting the rearend out of the 92 in now.

I have never seen an axle break like that. I have seen the halfshafts fly out due to broken c clips and broken axleshafts, but I have never seen the axle housing itself break :o. Maybe you should buy or fabricate an axle truss for the other axle you are replacing it with. If that happens in the middle of nowhere, it could equal total damnation ;)

I would call the suzuki dealer because I believe I read some where that there was a problem with the welds on some of the rear housings and it was covered under a recall. Worth looking into anyway

The only recal relevant to my tracker was the front seat belts (acording to GMC anyways)

Bummer, I'll have to see if I can remember where I saw that and what years it applied to ???

Try:

Personally, I'd write it up as offroading wear and tear and move on.
Pretty spectacular failure though. Thanks for the pics!

Ive seen several very bent trackick rear axles but never a broken one! :o

Wow,
glad your ok and nothing else happened!

Thanks for the link Ack, it was the 94's that had the axle weld problem
-
Looking on the pictures tho that is a SERIOUS POS weld, a blind mice would probably welded it better 8)

well i figured i would post some pics of my progress..I dont know why i just did. So here are the pictures of my truck and the rear end coming out of the parts truck. Everything was going pretty good then when i went to take the shock off of the axle from the donar truck and CRAP the shock mount was bent all to hell in the rollover. Time for a crowbar and hammer ;D

thank goodness for that little brake line on there huh! That and the shock look like the only things keep that axle attached to your truck.
