ok im going to do it im going to put a toyota drivetrain into my sidekick. i just picked up a 92 toyota with a 22re 2.4l efi moter in it for 100 dollers. the trucks smashed and unfixable but the wire harness and computer and moter are fine. its only a 2 wheel drive but a buddy of mine hase a 5 speed 4 wheel drive trans and a rear axel. said its mine for free. he wants to see me do this sence he is into modifying everything. its going to be bad ass. i was looking on toy web sights and 5.0 to 1 gears for the transfercase are only 445 dolers wow lot cheeper than a sidekicks 4.29s. 529 r&ps are like 180$. bingo i think this is the way to go. all i have to hunt down now is a trasfercase and a frunt axel. i dont know what springs im going to use but it will be a coil spring setup. all add more later my friend just called to tow the toy.

Might try looking for fj80 axles should come with coil mounts already on them.

i wouldn't bother with the t case gears, just get a marlin dual case adapter and run dual cases. works great in most toys. the 5:29's are made a bit weaker than the lesser ones. i would stick with like, 4:37's and the dual cases.
i just sold off my toyota to buy my kick, it had a 5mge in it with 4:37 gears and welded rear with 35" krawlers. worked pretty well.
just keep in mind when ya get the front axle, may as well do a rebuild on it when you have it out and apart. maybe look into some upgraded birfields, there is a local guy in b.c who makes them.. there called smurfs.
look around for a deal on high steer as well.
just some thoughts. ;)

I beleive he is saying axles from a toyota fj80, which i am no pro, kinda dumb to tell ya the truth... but didn't those come with birfield's and drums on all fours?
