Title: Stripped front diff mount, on 3" Calmini articulation drop bracket.
Post by: shanes on June 10, 2006, 06:53:47 AM
Guys

Just ripped the three right hand bolts, out of the front diff, that locates the drop bracket
on my first real rock crawling outing.   Running the 3" Calmini articulation.

Bolts are perfect, Just with 1/2" of torn alloy attached.

Has any one else had this problem? and what is the best was to rectify.

Cheers

The solution to the aluminum diff is to have
the hollow between the bolts welded solid.

The other solution is get a steel GV front diff

I welded mine, after I pulled a bolt out, drilled
and tapped it back out, and last time I had the
diff housing out, I got longer bolts, the bolt in the
housing where the gears are is almost poking out
into the gear area, but not quite, the others are
longer too but not quite

Good luck
