Title: Stock speaker size(s)
Post by: Swedie on June 11, 2006, 12:43:37 AM
Heya!

Anyone here that can tell me what the stock size is for the speakers in the front (doors) and rear (roof)?

It's a 2001 Grand Vitara V6.

Thanks

Eh what the heck, couldn't find an answer anywhere... but found out now that the speakers I have are too big. But I installed them anyways... it's precisely that they fit without seeing they are too big (seiling is pushed out 1mm). They didn't fit the slots at all... but I used screws at a 45 degree angle. Should stay in. :-)

If you're wondering, I installed 6.5 inch speakers in the front and rear. Stock size are around 5 1/4th, I guess.

Oddly enough, these new "pimp" speakers sound clearer and you hear MORE of the music and beats, but have hardly any base to them at all. Fronts are 2 way with base and treble, the rear is base only with optional treble (tiny extra speakers).

Probably gonna have to install a subwoofer.

You don't actually SEE that there are new speakers installed, as they're hidden behind the speaker net. Oh about these nets, I am thinking about painting them black... it will give some contrast inside the car. the car is very cheap looking inside (dash, display, gear shifter knob etc).

should be 6.5 inch like my 2000. when I put new speakers up front it was like I never had speakers up front before so definately a great idea to do new speakers in that.. do all 4 and put the better pair up front

is it possible to remove the rear speaker net and remove the speakers without removing the entire head lining?

i installed a mp3 player today, and now i want to install the new 6,5" blaupunkt speakers i bought.
but i don't want to destroy anything, so i gave up before i started breaking stuff :P

i hawe seen in the scervice manual, but only found out how to remove the entire head lining >:(
it can't be that complicated???

yea, I did, I accidently kind of broke the first one and got impatient and broke the other. if you put the screens from the new ones on people don't even notice unless you point it out. the screens are intact, just would need glueing in if I really wanted to bother with it

ok, you see...

the new screens is a little "BLING-BLING" to my taste, it has some "X" on it and looks like somthing that should be on my previous car. (Peugeot 405 ;))

well, I am pretty sure you can glue the stock ones back in if you kind of gently twist them off like I did. just twist counter clock wise and you'll break some little plastic post and they should glue back in place... worse case scenario they don't go back in and it won't look quite as nice but the sound quality will make it worth while

i'm confused, tryed to remove front door panel as described in Suzuki repair manual.

it said: remove door panel by rotate 45' counter clock wise.

now i'm feeling real STUPID! how the F**K do i remove it? ???
is it a smart way to remove it or is it "the proper amount of force" way?

i must trye again tomorrow if it isn't raining.

The way I read it, you prise the door trim away from the door frame, starting at the bottom and working up the sides - just like any other car - the panel will be fastened on by trim fasteners.  Then I expect you lift the panel slightly upwards and it detaches from the door frame at the top.

However, the inside handle and power window wire will still be holding the panel to the door.  You undo the wire at a connector, and then rotate the panel as described to allow the handle to pass through the hole in the panel.

I hope that's correct  ;)

I didn't need extra fasteners, the door thinger popped right back in and I just reinstalled the door handle and the screw in the other dinger

maybe i just remove both and wait with the reistalling on the right side if i get short on fasteners.

right now, im just prayin that the speakers isn't too deep.

bought a set of blaupunkt for the front and sony's for the rear.
the sony's is approx. 2" deep, how deep is the OEM speakers in the roof?

I don't think depth is much of an issue unless your new speakers are an ungodly size as far as depth. there is tons of room in the front speaker spots if I remember right and there is a pretty decent ammount of space in the back for depth. if they were too deep in the back for some reason you could make spacers for them out of high density particle board that they make speaker cabinets out of. would probably sound better too. anyways, don't worry too much. I don't think I've seen a 6.5 inch speaker that looked like it wouldn't fit front or rear of a 2nd gen track/vit

a friend of mine asked if i wanted a 10" woofer and amplifier, i'm not liiking forward to it :(

but when an other friend of mine is an ex-hardcore car-stereo builder, it might get easyer :D

why do i need to pull a thick cable from the battery? it sure is easier to plug a wire to the 12volt plug in the rear?

i'm a stereo noob..... :-[

sub amps draw allot of power, a small wire will probably start a fire due to too much resistance. I installed my sub, it's not that bad

go to a good stereo shop and they should have wiring kits for sub amps. you'd get different gauge wire depending on the wattage your amp has. for the inline fuse on the big wire you can zip tie the casing so something under the hood, works well, should come with a water proof fuse case. good luck
