Title: PowerTank CO2 trail air system (and MY version)
Post by: Quaddawg on June 15, 2006, 08:48:50 PM
I have had a tank of CO2 I have used for quite a while.  I have seen the expensive systems too.. Like the PowerTank:

http://www.powertank.com/  (you GOTTA see the video on the home page of the huge tire beeing filled, then you will know what I mean about these systems!)

$400-$600 bux!!!

or the more economical Outback air:

SO, I decided to freshen up my tank system:

I bought a regulator from Outback air for  $55.00
a SUPER SUPER nice Milton Air Chuck/Gauge Ebay  $20.00
and a very nice Poly coiled hose, just like Outback has for $11.00 plus shipping

I had the tank, so that was free.. and ended up with a "PowerTank" for under $90.00..

While I was at it, I scrounged around for gauges and an old oxygen regulator, and came of with the steel tanked unit for FREE!!!

Now I have one for the Tracker, and one for the tow rig/ATV's... and I can use these to fill my Instant Air (Like PowerTanks minis, they sellem for $190) for the quads themselves...

Who needs a friggen compressor... these tanks blow onboard air AWAY!!

Checkem out, the blue hose is the nice one.. the other is for my tow rig.

I work with a guy that scuba dives.  I keep dropping hints to him that if he ever wants to get rid of his old tanks... ;D

those work pretty good too!  They don't have the capacity of CO2, as Carbon Dioxide is a liquid at that pressure and temp, but AIR is better in that it's drier, and is just air, after all..

Does anyone know how much it costs to fill a 2216psi Scuba tanks?  how about a 4500?

I think I would rather run air, it's just hard to find around here... not too many places to scuba here in Ohio.. lol..

Title: Re: PowerTank CO2 trail air system (and MY version) NEW ADDITIONS!
Post by: Quaddawg on June 23, 2006, 06:23:09 PM
Here are my lastest and probably final additions.

I found a guy here in Cincy with GREAT prices on tanks.

He sold me a nice, blasted, freshly painted aluminum 10 pound tank, with a new valve and new certification, FILLED, for $55.00.. killer.

While I was there, I went ahead and bought a 50 pound tank!  Most places lease you the tanks, like $100 a year, or something like that.. He blasted and painted one for me, installed a siphon, so I can fill other tanks with it, and installed a new valve, AND filled it with 50 lbs of CO2.. for... $107!!!

I can fill the neighbor kids (and my boy's of course) Paintball tanks, I can fill my 10 pounder, and I guess even my 20 pounders if I want.  They also quoted me $20 to fill the 50... yeah.. that's about fifty cents to fill my instant air, or a Paintball tank.. yeehaw... I'll charge the neighbors $3.00 to fill thier tanks, fill about 10 to get all my money on a fill, including gas to get there and back..

Yeah, I'd say my CO2 needs are now filled..  :P

The 10 pounder is for my Tracker, the Instant air for the ATVs and around the house. One of my 20 pounders for my tow rig, a 20 pound back up, and the 50 to fill them all.

 ;D ;D ;D

If you are wondering how many times you can air up a tire with a power tank..

Check this:

http://www.powertank.com/full.chart.html

In my case, with my small tank, at my pressures (5-20)  I get more than 40 fills, OR 10 air ups..  Less if I use the air.. but still.. that's a LOT of air for $4.00  (My cost to fill a 10#)
