I have a 98 Tracker 2dr softee. I HATE THE GRILL!
Would a 98 Sidekick grill be a direct bolt on replacement?
My 98 bolts on with one center bolt and that is all. I wonder if the Sidekick is the same?
anyone tried it?

Should be a streight swap.
I could be wrong.

There should be 5 screws, one center,
two low by the headlights, and 2 in each
fender on the earlier ones that wrap around
the bottom leading edge on the front fenders

On mine (98 tracker 2dr) when I was doing my lift kit I found that there was only one center bolt and the grill snapped out from there without difficulty. There were no other bolt holes so I am assuming it is only a simple one bolt snap in mount. If a 98 Sidekick is exactly the same it would be great. If the dimmensions are exactly the same even if it is a 5 bolt mounting system that would work as I could just screw in additional bolts as needed. If the shape is way off it might not work. I noticied on one side the outside edge of the grill locks into the air intake in the fender well. That could be a factor also.
Anyone tried this?

i have a 98 tracker my grile has 1 bolt in the center of the grille but also has 8 plastic clips that the grille snaps into forget the sidekick grille just do what im going to do and thats putting a phantom grille on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

I cant picture what the 98 sidekick grill looks like but I have a 97 tracker and I swapped a 94 4 door grill in mine. You would need the bumper also in that case. The grill has a lower lip that the tracker does not. Do you have a pic of the grill you want to install?

mikerpm4X4, the 98 and 97 are the same grill on a tracker. An older model with a lower lip as you describe might be a neat swap since I have a gap now that I did a lift (2") and the lip from an older model grill might just be the cool ticket. how does the older model grill mount? Did it fit the opening?

I think you'll find the lip sticks out like this

and not down so it wouldn't cover the gap from your body lift.

It does fit the opening but I had to drill the upper center hole in a different place. Honestly I cant remember what else I did? :-/ Sorry. I know it can be done... ::)

So it does fit the housings around the lights and into the general opening. I see what you mean. If it didnt look right I bet I could grind it down flat if I needed to.

THis is my 1998 Sidekick Grill in my 1994 Sidekick.
Nothing special, no mods. Just used the center screw and the 2 sides under the fender edge.
My tracker grill looks different.
