Title: backspacing?
Post by: ddevil on June 17, 2006, 06:34:47 AM
can anyone explain backspacing to me?  in layman's terms perhaps?  i know it has to do with wheel offset but not sure how it works...

It's the measurement taken by laying a straight edge across the inside bead of a rim and measuring from the straight edge to the wheel mounting surface(lug nut area)...

ahhh, icy.... that clears alot up.  thank you.  so the more backspacing the farther out the tire will sit right?

Close, but actually its the less backspace you have, the more the wheel will stick out. Wheel width also plays a factor in how far the wheel will stick out as well.
