Title: Calmini 2,5'' GV springs

Hi all,

i have a calmini 2,5'' in my GV for 9 months now and all that thing is toooo stiff when ride!

So i have a few plans in order to make my ride more comfortable.
First of all,
i want to know how many cm's long are the calmini 2,5'' springs if we lay them down on the floor (uncompresed).

and second, if anybody knows how many Lbs are the frond and rear calmini 2,5'' springs??

I have to note here that the calmini suspension part i use is   SK-19800.

Just a thought but it might not be the springs but the shocks.  I replaced my rears and the ride is so much better now.  When I get home to night I will try to get you some numbers off the spare set I have.

btw
 can  you  tell  if  the  front  original struts  are   the  same length (open/close)   as  the  ones   calmini  sell in  the  2.5"  set?
i  meen -can  i  leave  the  original  ones  and  not  install  those from  the  kit???

Hi George,

the shocks are stiff too, but the springs are stiffer !!!
i had a conversation with a friend of mine who has a sas-kick now, and told me the same thing that i believe.
He had a 3+3 calmini setup before he went SAS.
I ll try to find out something from Old Man Emu (king springs) which will be much better that calmini.
We ll see.....

I ll be glad if you do some measurment for me George,  but be sure when you measure them that  they are from a 2,5'' GV lift and not any +3'' kick.
Also be sure that the springs came from the  SK-19800 calmini kit.
I dont really know if they have any differences...... but just to be sure!!

yes, they have the same lengh as stock.....    you can leave the stock if you like, but you must use the spacer that kit includes or make one by yourself.

There is a myth that has been around for sometime now that Old Man Emu springs are just King Springs. This is not so and King Springs also have a reputation for being pretty stiff. As has been mentioned I would look to changing the shocks and struts as this can make a marked improvement. Old Man Emu would be my choice, at least for the struts as apart from the extra travel they also have different valving as do their shocks and this can make a difference. I had some old OME shocks I sold to someone with a different aftermarket kit on who was complaining about the harsh ride. After fitting the OME's he was very happy with the improvement.

I believe that even changing the struts and shocks, the ride will continue to be stiff.
the big prob is the springs all around.....they are toooo stiff i believe.
imagine that the frond suspension flex like shit, and hard, and the "come back" is not so good too.

Anyway.....so u mean that OME springs are a King springs product but stiif also??
Maybe with OME struts and shocks i ll be more satisfied, but if i ll still have that problem afetr that??   i have to change the springs then, right?

I ll see if i can get some info about the calmini springs that i asked ....and re-think it after.
I may try to find something from Summit.

No, King Springs are NOT OME springs. King springs are too stiff. You may well need to change the springs but I would initially try the shocks and struts first and see if you are happy with that, it may be enough. If not there is a post here where I listed all the OME spring rates and lengths that may be of use to you.

Hi again,

Just a question that somebody maybe can answer......

I heard something about Kilen springs.
Does anybody heard or use Kilen springs to replace Calmini's springs or for having a 2'' - 3'' susp lift??

Any ideas about that??
Are they stiff also (generally) or they may be better??
