Post by: josh on June 24, 2006, 11:05:35 AM
does any body know where i can find the exhaust pipe that goes from the manifold down and has the converter in it. i saw it for sale on a website but now i cant find it. also i noticed i had an antifreeze leak and saw that it is coming out of a little quarter inch hose that goes into the intake manifold and it is broke off and idont no how to fix it. do i need a new intake cause the fitting broke off. the hose runs between the intake (front bottom) to the water pump(front topside)

Samurai, Trackkick or ???

Good point.

These items should be available at the local junkyard.  If it's a TracKick, you might find it already taken off the engine and laying on the ground!  Pick and Pull yards are your best value.

An intake can run from $35-95 and exhaust are slightly higher.

If it is a TracKick, carefully inspect the bottom of the exhaust manifold assembly on your truck.  Pre '94s have a 2-pipe joint to the catalytic assembly. '94 and newer have a single pipe connection.  The pre-'94s also had a tendency to crack by the branches at the top.  You'll spot them immediately when you take the heat shield off.

If it's a Samurai, the best replacement for the exhaust manifold is a Thorley header from one of the many Samurai vendors listed here and at other sites.  It's a quality replacement part AND improves performance!  Thorley also sells a TracKick replacement, which is a bit higher in price.  Both may require a bit of fabbing by the muffler shop to connect to the cat, but the required components are very stock and thus inexpensive.

If you can't find a decent carbureted intake for your Samurai (assuming that is what you have) PM me.  I have two.

Hey folks , I didn't Pimp once during this post!!   ::)
