Post by: derekj on June 25, 2006, 10:03:06 PM

does anybody know if somebody makes a cooler thermostat for the 1.6 8 valve. the stock one is rated for 180 degrees - i would like to run mine about 10 to 20 degrees cooler. i tried my local parts store but didn't have any luck.

Try this site it is an online catalogue of advanced auto parts.  They have more stuff online than in their stores.  I got a 160 degree thermostat from them.    www.partsamerica.com (http://www.partsamerica.com)

180* is cool enough, if you get a
cooler one only go to 170*, 160*
stats run too cold, mine was only
getting to 145*, I think they aren't
as acurate

If you know the spot to find a 170 let me know. my friend works at autozone went through every 170 could not find one the same size.
