Title: To all who have done their own lift!

I have completed my 4" list except for one small problem.  The nut holding the Pitman arm is kind of stuck.  We tried a 1/2 inch drive ratchet and broke the ratchet teeth.  We then tried a 1/2" drive breaker bar........ it held true..... it broke.
How do you get that darn pitman nut off?????????????????

Yea you are right.  I guess Craftsman is some pretty cheak equipment.

If you can't get the nut off.......wait till you try to get the arm itself off!

Impact, and pitman arm puller with impact.

And yeah, Craftsman stuff is CHUMPY...... but I use it, cause I live within 5 miles of Sears and I love to take broken tools in for free replacement, and they don't give me crap like the Snap-on man does when I break a screwdriver using it as a prybar.. lol..

If it won't come off, heat the nut up to a dull red and use a 6 point impact socket and a long breaker bar to get it off. It works on all Suzuki bolts. I don't think I have taken anything off my 94 kick without using "liquid wrench"!

It's not the quality..... it's the size that matters.........
I went and got a 3/4" drive breaker bar and a 1 3/16ths socket at Tractor Supply.
Took the darn nut off in 10 seconds.
Now as mentioned above... the Pitman arm it's self was a whole nother story.
Went to 4 Wheel Parts store and talked the the mech that has owned 6 Suzuki's.
He says Use a cut-off tool and cut through it along the shaft. (Being careful not to cut the shaft.)  Then a few "light taps" with an air hammer and it dropped right off.

use good pen fluid and soak it good for at least a week. it helps. Be careful with the heat as it can make the shaft seal leak.

I have found heating one side of the pitman in a line parallel with the shaft will make it grow enough to get it off and possibly re-use it.

Better solution is to buy high steer and leave the pitman alone!  :P

be very careful when heating steering parts
you can weaken them badly
If i were you and it came down to heat then use it enough just to make penetrating oil to boil off when you spray it.

impact wrench is your friend....  only way I have gotten the off.

I used a wrench wedged against the frame while a friend turned the steering wheel.
