Title: Zukimelt 2006
Post by: Quaddawg on July 07, 2006, 03:26:27 PM
We are having a blast!

We are back in the hotel, cooling off, and getting ready to take a swim.. lol..

Today I met Mike Hagen, Ack, FNG, Offlimits4x4, Redbeard, and several others.. I saw Lil' Red, but didn't get a chance to talk with her yet.

Got to see the "new widening method" that Hagen and the boys have worked out.. NEAT!

Lots more to do tomorrow!

I got some pics today, but haven't gotten around to editing them yet..

Here are a few preliminary shots I got

This his is deceivingly hard to climb.. mostly because it's loose. Here is a NICE Trackick making it.. I climbed the hill two to the left from this one.. twice.. I watched a few others make it, and MANY not be able to climb it..

Here is FNG and I, parked, watching the racing

Here is Offlimits4x4's SAS GV... SUPER nice!

I will have a whole album after I get home Sunday...

MORE LATER!!!

PS<   here is a gallery of everything I have so far.. but some aren't edited, and there are a LOT of my boy on his quad, in the dunes... so overlook those.. lol...

I will watch for you. I plan on taking a green trail ride at 10:30... then probably let my boy ride in the dunes on his quad again..

You know what my tracky looks like.. now it's tan, from being covered with mud.. lol

Then of course the group photo at 4:00 pm..

Hi Quaddawg. Sorry we didnt get more time to talk. At least I got the rear end togather in time for the rock rage. I did win the unlimited class and my freind Dan won the trophy class (37 inch tire and under) in the pornstar. The yellow kick it the top pic is 37 kicker also known as Stan. I forgot my camera but I hope someone has some pics of Jim Mazzolas red 04 zr2. That thing was sweet.

Mike

There will be other times to shoot the bull Mike...

I would LOVE to get some more info on what it takes to run front ends such as you guys..

I didn't realize that was Stan and his rig, I should have hung out in the campground after.. but that swimming pool, and AC, room service..etc... was calling my name!!

This IS a super nice ZR2!!

I love both of those sas track/vits that were there. freaking awesome stuff... many awesome rigs there

I believe those were both Mazzola rigs..

I like the idea of them, but I will keep my IFS, and Hagenize it before swapping to SAS

I really like my ifs as well. you were saying your 1st gen didn't gain much flex without the sway bar but my sway bar makes it like there is no front suspension at all with it in so without the sway bar I absolutely love my ifs off road. I am caught between making dual control arm IFS or sas in 5 years or so. long time to think about it.

there are pros and cons to both as far as I see and I guess it would be best to just get out there and see what pros I need the most

No, I said I never had it off.  I have never bothered to take off the sway bar. I like it on.  I like stable, as opposed to flexy.. and if you are ever in doubt as to the capability of the turtle, come wheeling with me.. ;D

I took mine off because it would not clear the toy cv axles and off road it feels more stable with out it.on the street however not as stable. 8) :P ;D

never knew you never took it out but I knew it was in. was just saying that on my 2nd gen I really like it allot more without. with the coil spacers and new struts and shocks it's almost as stable without it as with and goes through rough stuff allot nicer. when I had it stock I wheeled with and without it and without felt liek all of a sudden I had front suspension. I climbed stuff I could barely do with the sway bar with ease without cause I don't have lockers and I had the extra flex... at least for what I've done. the coil spacers seemed to have stiffened the front end so it's not so loose but can still fully flex without the bar

I'm not doubting your turtle. I think it's a beast. I was just saying that the sway bar may be less effective on it or something cause it's a 1st gen, don't know and thought I'd throw the possiblity out there.

you have wheeled allot more than me but on my rig it does better without the bar. I need to test out the lift soon. going to get new meats as well. can't put the bar back in cause I stripped the threads on the frame and I don't want them to give out in the middle of a high speed corner on the road so it's better without all around for now.

wow that's allot of rambling.

No, that makes sense, and I agree.

I forget sometimes that being locked, and having agressive tires, run VERY low psi makes up for lack of flex..

I am going to try the bar off and on, on the same hills, sometime soon, and report back with my opinion on MY Track.

Quaddawg, I talked to you during the RTI comp.  Sorry I was busy running it and didn't get a chance to really introduce myself!
You and your crew need to come over to Haspin the end of Aug. when my club has the Mud Mash.  Would love to wheel with you all over there!

that a good idea. best to get an idea of what it's like either way. you may just end up liking it better with the bar off. who knows. can't really tell unless you try I guess

Cool, thanks,  ;D I will be there then. I go to Haspin all the time.

I should have my front locker and twin stick in by then...

Just make a post in the Adventure forum, or PM me or something. I love to wheel as much as I can.
