Title: Rear Window Defroster
Post by: HotRod on July 08, 2006, 06:13:02 PM
Okay, I now have a hard top on me 2dr and the question is.
The hardtop has a defroster.
Can I just hook a switch to it
or
does it need to have resistor installed (or a whatnot)as not to
over power it?

No resistor needed, but make sure the wiring is heavy duty, like 10 gauge, and make sure the switch can handle at least 30 amps. Plus, don't forget to turn it off after the window is clear, otherwise you're wasting a ton of electricity that will put a drain on your battery and alternator. That's why factory defroster grids usually have a timer switch...

Sweet. Thanks.
The wires for the rear defroster don't look that heavy.
