I'm wondering which gen of the Trackick, Trackvit people like the looks of best. I really prefer the looks of the 99+ Trackvit to the 98- Trackick, but I've read people here saying the opposite.
-
What if you have both? ;D

Which do you like the looks of better. (Kind of like asking which kid your Mom likes better :))
-
Depends. I'm not a big fan of the 2-door 99+ Track/Vits. Just looks goofy to me, although I do think they get better as you lift them. Something with the curvier body and the itsy bitsy tires...the body looks to big I guess.

However when it comes to 4-doors I'd have to take a 99+ any day. The curves and slightly bulkier look fit it a bit better in my opinion.

i prefer the older style for both. i really like the look of my 97 sport 4dr. especially when it gets the lift in the next little while.
i like the newer style 4 dr.s as well, not to big on the 2dr versions though.
i think a XL7 will be my next family wild wheeler/camping/exploring rig.

i like the 95-98 style
rounded out grill instead of flat

My fave is the 2-door tin-top Sidekick.
Too bad I don't have one.
I've got a 2-door 95 soft-top, a 4 door 95 hard-top, and a 99 GV.

Interesting, that is exactly what you have ;) Although I do agree with you, the 99+ 2dr looks a little funky IMHO.
I have to go with the 99+... they look good with 4drs and I need 4drs to take the family out. Also the cleaner look without the GV's body cladding is much better, but some good vynil wheel flares look nice too bad they have crappy mud flaps build in . Dang that's exactly what I have too ;)

It would be perfect if I could get the wheel flares shown in this calmini vehicle pic

I am with ajm and maplebar on the 2 door 2nd gens looking a bit goofy. I really like the 1st gen 4 doors as far as looks but the more I see lifted 2nd gens the more I am on the fence, especially after I lifted mine. for 2 doors 1st gen rules as far as looks bt 4 door I'm undecided
the back end of a 1st gen 4 door looks really awesome but the nose is a but stubby. on a 2nd gen the front end and a few other things on a 2nd gen are pretty cool looking

thats another reason i like my sport, has a bit bigger and longer hood.

that's cool, I had no idea they were like that. V6 and a better looking body

I'm surprised no one likes the 2 door 99+. I don't like the fact that it can't take as big of tires stock that an older one can, but I like the looks better. Plus I like the 2 piece top. Also the 99+'s feel like they are made of real metal, not the thin stuff the older ones are made of. I guess that is why they weigh 500 pounds more though. I like the fact though that my 90 isn't worth much so I don't have to be afraid to wheel it. Not sure I'd want to wheel a newer vehicle.

looks to me like the frame may be a bit more subtsantial on the 2nd gens therefore maybe that's a tadd heavier as well.. don't know
I am actually leaning twards liking the 2nd gen 4 doors. now that mine's lifted I can imagine it with new tires and tinted windows and it's pretty much my dream vehicle as far as looks minus the fact that I want more lift
-
Personally, I would love to have an old 2dr tintop...

no v6, just the 1.8L
i like it hough, i looked at some newer styled ones. just decided i liked the older style better myself. once it gets some lift and bigger meats it will be perfect.
-
I prefer the early 2-door trackicks convertible, early Sport model 4-door, and the 99+ 4-dr vitara/grand vitara/and tracker with zr-2 package, I think the 99+ 2-doors look funny too ;)
-
well... if you want to get all nitty-gritty
I like the pre-95 2 doors and the 95-98 4 doors
and I really dont like the 99+ (any doors) ((to own that is))
so much that Id think about getting a jeep before a 99+
weird......
imho of course

well, the longer hood seems nice though. I heard the frame is wider and stuff on a sport model. what did they gain with the differences? must be something. stability? strength? but from the sounds of it I'd seek a sport model if I were to look for a 1st gen. I have made up my mind though, don't remember if I said it or not but I like the 2nd gen 4 doors the best. if it were an election in my mind the 2nd gen 4 door would have won over the 1st gen 4 door by 1 vote. 3rd place is the 1st gen 2 door.. that's just me though

1st gen - Wide body / Sport.
2nd gen - five door any day.
I guess that is why I own both ;D
I think Suzuki built the wider chassis version so that they could comfortably fit the V6 in. Most parts are very similar to the 1600's though.

oh yea, i thought they all had V6's in them but apearently you can get a 1.8L 4 in them to

In the US the Sports never got a V6, only a 1.8L I4. Suzuki didn't put V6's in any of their 4x4's sold here in the States until the new models came out in 1999. The rest of the world got the 2.0L V6 in question sometime in the...mid-90's? ???

suzuki always half asses it for the US. first I find that we have no jimnys, no diesels, now no V6 sport kicks? what crap

Dont be sad :'(
At least you get the flash options. Cruise control etc.
Our vehicles tend to be a little down spec on average :-\

Not specifically Suzuki but it's been my experience that you guys get better offroad and work worth options and, in some cases, vehicles. We haven't seen a Nissan Patrol since the late '60's and electronically disconnecting swaybars, electric lockers, and some of the other goodies available since the 80's are still a relatively recent addition to our OEM's line ups.
Heck, we've never even gotten a LSD in the rear of a Suzuki here.
-
I think ajm has some good points. here in the states it seems like it's all about comfortable boring stuff more and more. look what they call a grand vitara these days. I don't call it a grand vitara, I call it an imposter.
I wish we had jimnys and patrols here
-
I like the early 2 doors the best, TinTop or SofTop. Have one of each.
-
What about a hardtop With a 2 piece back door?
That would be nice ;D
(http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=12891.0;id=2214;image)
instead of the One piece.
I personnelly like the Boxie type (pre 99)
But options would be nice.
