Title: Routing exhaust for the third time... HELP!!!
Post by: Element on July 17, 2006, 09:55:51 AM
I bought my sammy and it had the tail pipe straight out the back... this created a problem with fumes in the cab, so I had it rerouted to stock position. Then I had to go and do something crazy like add Missing Links!!! I had to chop my tail pipe... now I am not sure where to put the tail pipe. The muffler guys suggested placing it behind the missing link, but I am not sure if it will get crushed there when my leafs are compressed. An option I decided on was to stick it out a little furtherpast the link, they didnt like that idea because of a safety issues, however I will be adding an aftermarcket bumper that should stick out farther... Where do you guys with missing links run your exhaust??? I am doing everything I can to avoid any fumes in the cab....HELP!!!

well there was a thread on another board about exhaust routing, and pretty much no matter were u put it your going to get fumes and smell inside.   just the way the aerodynamics are on a sammy.  But I dont have missing links but here is what I did.  My exhaust is 2 inch pipe and stops right before rear axle about 6-12 inches, it also curves slightly down at end.  I do notice the smell of exhaust isnt as bad.   Barely smell it now.

To be honest... I havent rerouted it yet. It is cut short and it has been that way for awhile... every once in awhile I get aq wiff of exhaust... It isn't to bad ever since I had my cat converter fixed.
