Post by: Jeff@TireBalls on July 19, 2006, 02:42:53 PM
Can anyone tell me where to find the diagnostics port? I just bougt a 2000 GV this weekend and after less than 100 miles the service engine soon light is on.  >:(  I bought a code reader but can't find the port for the life of me.

Sorta by where your right leg goes as you sit there driving.  The best way to get to it is either kneel on the floor and look up under the dash or lay on your back and look up.  It's sorta tucked up behind the dash plastic.

It seems a bit early for the evaporator to go south. How many miles?

Glad to hear someone else is using that - I use mine every day, in and out of the garage (it's on a slope).

Did you change grade or brand of gas? This also causes wierd stuff to go on with the emissions system, rearly but it does happen.

That was the first tank of gas I had put in it so its hard to say. Its still hasn't come back on so is must be one of those pre set deals that automaticly comes on at a certain mileage.

Code 0440 or p0440 is fuel tank vent system- above limit. no change to fuel mixture is seen
when purge valve from canister is opened. If this fault returns pm me and i can give you more
info for diagnosis.

Thats good because canister faults can be a pain to find. Was it siting for a while before you bought it?That can cause faults with solenoids sometimes.Hopefully the fault will not return

I'm not sure, it was on a car lot. It came on after about 100 miles.
