Title: Hey don't those things tip over?
Post by: Autobot on February 01, 2005, 07:23:37 AM
To take an idea from J.Baker's last post. >

How many times have you been asked about your track/kick/sammi,

"Hey aren't those the things that roll over?"

I get that alot. Especially last week. I had showed my proffessor at class some pics and videos from the site here and I was telling him about the lifts for Trackers.  I thought he would be interested, seeing as how he's a car nut. The first words out of his mouth were, " Yea, then you can really flip you car." he also added, "Yea, get a lift and big tires, then make sure you wear you helmet and seatbelt before you roll it"

The funny thing is:  I have been unable to find ANYBODY that has rolled a Track/Kick with a Calmini roll cage installed.

Conclusion:  The Calmini Roll Cage (er, I mean "Interior Sport Bar Kit"), makes your Track/Kick UNROLLABLE!

I have rolled a suzuki Before but it wasn't a sidekick. It was a sammy and it rolled taking a turn about 50 onto a off camber road. But I didn't get hurt and in turn ended up buying my sidekick sport which is now my favorite car. But i would imagine any suv would of gone flip side turning that quick.

I got my hard top from a guy who rolled his kick (while the top was off obviously).

I asked what happened, ...

He was reaching down for some stuff that spilled in the pass seat, looked up and was heading off the road, the right side wheels dropped into the ditch, tried to correct outta the ditch, and roll.

That would flip many trucks (and lotsa cars too).

I just tell them it was a lie made up by
Consumer Reports, and that they were
being sued by Suzuki for slander

My sammy with a SPOA kit and no sway bars handles great.   I have only had it for 4 months and I can't count how many times I have been asked that question.

I did see a show on the Discovery channel about consumer reports and how they really had to try hard to get a sammy up on two wheels let alone roll one.  I belive it was an average speed of 53 mph and a sharp turn to the left then right before the wheels came off the ground.  It helps keep the price down. 8) ;D

I push my 4-door Kick HARD, up and down Golden Gate Canyon, west of Golden Colorado.  It's a little snake of a road.  It's my daily commute.  And when I say hard, I mean 4-wheel drifts through curves, on pavement.

Roll?  You gotta be kidding me!  On the other hand, I once saw an idiot almost roll an F-150 on perfectly flat ground (on Interstate 70, warm day, dry roads) just by stupid application of the steering wheel.  Got it up on two wheels!

Hey, it happens.

I think ANYthing would have rolled at 60mph on a 90 degree corner out in the desert on a dirt road..  But with this roll, no one was hurt.. just a couple of scrapes!

:P

;)

But.. only with a Suzuki can it cost next to nothing to buy another body and piece it all back together  ;D
