Title: fact or fiction
Post by: 90Stomper on January 31, 2005, 01:41:43 PM
so i am looking through my JC Whiteney cat. tonight for fender flares and .....

i see that they sell those 'tornado' things.  do they work?  looks like they might swirl the air and retard its flow at the same time.

and, those magnetic fuel line things that improve mpg.  they sound like those xray glasses they used to sell in the backs of comics.

just wondering.  maybe one for myth busters... :D

With carbed and throttle body vehicles yes it does work do to the atomization. A multi port engine you won't notice much if any results.

Every independent test I have seen of these products had startling results!  The products do NOTHING.  That's right, they do nothing other than help relieve that overpressure condition in your wallet.

Have you ever heard of the old saying "IF it sounds to god to be true, ....." or " you get what you pay for" ::) If they realy worked that good and were that inexpensive, why woud they not be on carb. motors from the factory :-/

I forget where it is but somewhere there is a US government? website somewhere that has a massive list of this sort of thing. They are some sort of consumer affairs department and are always taking companies to court to prevent them making this sort of claim.
I will do a search for Slick 50, that should bring it up (you can also use Splitfire plug, Gas magnet, pretty much any of these devices).

Edit: Here we go:

Sure I played Uriah Heep.  On my turntable.   Loud.  Now I spin the CD instead.  Seriously, one of the best concerts I have been to recently, was AC/DC at the Pepsi Center on 4/11/2001.  Damned youngsters were complaining about it being too loud.  What were they thinking?
