If you read the Oh crap I killed it, I figured it out and posted the result. (sorry kind of wordy)
Anyways, I have the weber 34, new plugs, wires, rotor, cap, coil. I tried setting the carb to the factory spec sheet. I then tried adjusting it from there. I still can't get her to smooth out. I use fuel system cleaner, And I have a new pump , regulator, and fuel filter. I also cleaned the air filter. I have the stock exaust and disconnected the computer. My altitude is around 2000 ft above sea level. and the timing is around 10 before. Maybe I need to go to higher octane gas.
Here are the questions.
Does the weber require hi octane gas.
I have the airgap on the ignitor near the min. tollerance, Should I open it up?
The carbs only a year old. Has anybody out there figured out how to smooth the idle out with out having to idle at 1200 rpm?
Maybe a few people can post what there idle and fuel screws are set for what ever altitude there at. As well as the timing setting?

Mine idles pretty good, I just bolted it on, moved timing to same as yours, and there I go.. I use cheapest gas 87 octane with no problems, you sure you dont have a vacume leak somewere???
are all the old vac lines plugged off?

I believe they are all plugged off. I only have the vacuum advance hooked up. My thought is maybe a slight leak on one of the plugged ports. I didn't use gasket sealer when I put the weber adapter kit on. I thought the gasket itself would do the trick. Maybe it leaks there? How would I check for leaks? Just spray carb cleaner at dif points? I think I need to have my valves adjusted. Maybe this would have an affect?

The gap on the ignitor is to get the magnetic field strength correct for the sensor, the ignitor switches the ignition. You should just set the gap to the specs there aren't any performance gains to be had from varying it. Have you checked the timing with a strobe light? I don't know if its your problem but if you hook up the vacuum lines incorrectly the ignition advance can be reversed.

To rule out vacuum leaks, with it running take a can of WD-40 and spray around the base of the carb. If the idle smooths out temporarily then there is a leak.

Ya I didnt use gasket sealer on mine either, no leaks, use like otherposts said carb cleaner, wd-40 spray around base of carb you will know if u have a leak...
valves wouldnt make it run rough I wouldnt think... double check timing, vacume leaks, fuel mixure maybe...

I'll spray around the base to see. Don't know if that will tell if some of the plugs are Ieaking.
I believe I have the right port hooked to the vacuum advance. It is the one port that comes out to the left of the lone fuel mixture screw. I have one hose teeing off of a hose that connects the top of the valve cover to the bottom of the airfilter teing into the new pcv valve. The little port next to the pcv valve is plugged. Other then that, the only hose going to the carb is the hose coming from the holley fuel regulator. I think it's set at 2psi. I did notice when I was trying to pour a little gas in the carb to start it when I was having another issue, fuel behind the carb. I don't know if it seeped between the gasket and mounting plate or if it maybe poured out over the top of the carb.
I tightened the carb down good, maybe I tightened it too good? The mount plates are pretty stout but I suppose they could warp. If this is the case, I will try some gasket sealer. I will also try some hose clamps along with the screws and bolts I have in the hoses plugging the ports. I don't know what else to do. I'll give it a try.

those mounting plates can crack if tightened to much, that could cause vac leak, but you will know once u spray the line... Think webers like to run at 3psi if I remember correctly, I dont run a regulator on mine tho.
