Title: Quick Question
Post by: supermanwv on July 31, 2006, 11:36:35 AM
Something I noticed while driving this Samurai home after I bought it was.....no matter how long it runs...when I move the heater setting to hot, it still blows cold air out the front vents.  I didn't try to blow it out the defrost vents or floor vents, but would that make any difference.  What would cause that?

possible.....

the heater core under the dash went bad.  then the P.O. unhooked the water lines and looped them back to the block.

I did that to a datsun in high school, cuz it kept dumping antifreeze in the passenger floorboard.

I would check the hoses...if nothing is getting there....well then there won't be heat :)

Blocked up heater is very common. Somewhere on the web is an article showing how to cut a hole in the side of the heater housing to get a vacuum in there. Easier than removing the whole heater assembly

These water hoses that feed into the heater....where do they come off of on the motor?  Should I be able to see them easily from the engine compartment, or do I need to crawl under the vehicle?

I am going to check and see if the P.O. did loop them back to the engine rather than running them through the heater.

passengerside and they''ll head to the firewall,,should be two nipples sticking out one for each hose... real easy to find
