Title: samurai front axle help!
Post by: samuraijones on August 05, 2006, 09:06:46 PM
i posted a topic the other day (bronken frot axle?) and a couple a guys told me it was a axle but when i lifted my front end (to find out which side the broken one was on) and locked the hubs then turned the tire they both spun freely. is this not the proper way to check for that or is the problem in the hubs or diff. 2 busted axles!!??

some axles break but still can turn
the drive shaft, you need to take the
whole axle apart to check both axles
as well as the birfields, axles tend to
break near the diff, so you need to
pull that too, and both axles need to
be out to do that

niether tire will turn the drive shaft

The diff might be confusing things. Try turning the driveshaft and seeing if the wheels turn. Also drain the oil and check for metal.
