Ok ,Im sure this has been discused here before, but how do you know if you need to install a spacer on your steering shaft? ???
I ordered calmini's 3 body lift for my 94 trackick and don't know if I need a spacer or not.
If I do need to modify my steering shaft does anybody know if the boondox spacer will work? ???
I realy don't want to cut my own and weld in a spacer like calmini told me on the phone.
sorry if this has been discused here before......as you can see Im a noobie ;D
Thanks for the info

yup, 3" lift you'll need one... i can't believe the calmini kit didn't come with one, that's kinda cheap. i don't see why the boondox spacer wouldn't work.
-
ok let me change the question, calmini says if you have the collapsible shaft you need a spacer,if you don't it will be ok.
How can you tell what steering shaft you have?
-
The collapsable shaft doesn't have the billows
looking thing in it

do you have power steering? If you do i would get a spacer. if no, don't bother, i didn't, there is just less spline on the steering box but without power steering there isn't enough torque tp break
-
Ya I got power steering so I better go with a spacer.
Ok that helps me out :)
Thanks for the help

I just did the 3" Calmini BL. I have a 94 2dr kick with PS and we needed to weld in a spacer. We just cut the middle of the shaft and exteneded it. Have fun with the lift it took us 2 weekends and a week. We only work from 5 till 930 during the week. But is sure took a while.

that is not what I wanted to hear >:( >:(

i have a 92 2dr with a 3in bl and power sterring and i didnt have to use or do anything to the steering shaft at all. works fine been driving it for 3yrs and running 31s.

I have had 2 sidekicks w/ 3in body lifts and never used a spacer still driving the one on and off road and never had a problem. why would you need it. should I put one in now.
-
Fletcher, on my lift I don't have the spacer. they also told me I need to get an extension for the fuel tank but I didnt do that either and everything has been fine. I think you only need it if you do the body lift and suspension lift combo. In the worse case after we put it in we can get an extension welded on if needed but I don't think you will need it.

me and a buddy did the sky 2 bl in about 45min was easy but does require extensions for the shifter and the transfer case .

Ok you guys made me feel a little better now.
I don't mind welding in a spacer,..........but with my welding skills id rather not!
I just might consider getting the spacer from boondox........just to be on the safe side(30 bucks).

I did a 3" BL on my 1990 tracker and didn't need a spacer, but when i did the same lift on my buddies 1990 sidekick I had to put cut and weld one in.
