It's a fast paced tick, about 3-5 times faster than a wall clock, I can hear it inside driving as well but it's well heard with the hood up and it's in the intake plenum area(seems to be anyway), it happens at about 1800rpms up to 3500rpms only on the throttle, no noise off throttle, while driving I can actually control it just by applying different amounts of pressure to the throttle. I have a suspicion it's a fuel injector, but thought I'd ask in case someone knows or heard of something different. Someone mentioned a valve, but I think that would tick all the time...

Sounds lie it could be an idle control valve
opening and closing quickly, not sure if the
16V had these, but it's not a fuel injector,
they are very quiet.

Sounds possible, the truck hasn't been going into cold start(1500rpm) since I bought it, it imediatly goes to 800rpm, is there a relation there?
Thanks Wild,

My 95 has a similar if not the same noise from the intake side.  Been meaning to investigate it. It does have an idle control valve.
