i snapped something in the old one, so i swaped with a donar veichle. It all works fine, but.... its leaking a tincy bit constantly, i hoped it might fix itself, but hasnt!
One side bolts onto the diff, the other (drivers side in the uk) prises into it. It's fully in, but it is here where the leak is, i get a few drips each time i stop driving, probably some whilst im going too.
It slotted in fine a week back when i fitted it, what have i not done, or done wrong that makes it leak? Do i need a new seal or something? The old one didnt leak!
Also, before i get around to fixing it, what sort of oil to i need to put in the diff, obviously i dont want to run it dry!?

Regular gear oil, and yes, it's a seal that needs replacing

Handbook says 80W90.

Check the oil level. If the leak is as smalll as you say though and you started out with plenty of oil it should be fine for a while. Just to be safe though don't use 4wd until you sort it out. You can change the seal with it still on the vehicle if you need to, just got to pull the cv though.

cj, good thinking! there was me thinking i'd have to take the whole unit out again, but i hadnt thought of just removing the cv! ha
Another question then chaps, where will the seal be? inside the diff? or on the cv bit that comes out? and where can i buy another seal to replace it with?

Seal, is on the diff housing right where the shaft goes in. Most likely it will be a main dealer only part.

I have also picked them up from a bearing and seal shop.

These seals get messed up when prying the
axle stub out, and sticking the prybar in too
far. This is a face seal, and must have a good
surface to seal against. Pry carefully ;)
