What an adventure this was!!!! LOL ;D
Fabricated my own 3" body lift and did "most" of the install today.
Didn't realize I would have to dismantle so many things to do this...Holy shizit!!
Still have to hook brakes back up, shifter and cosmetics but the hardest part is done.
Here's a picture as it sits (with one of my new 265/75/16 tires leaning against it)
Hope to finish up tomorrow the ride it over to my friends shop to relocate the bumpers.
Crossing my fingers it'll be done tomorrow :)

what were the big head aches, is it worth it. I've got a 2" body lift ready for install but I'd go to 3" if it was worth it.
-
looks good, are you going to do a susp lift as well? if so what are your plans?

tofaroffroad,
I would imagine all the same things need to be dismantled to do a 2" or a 3", the biggest problem was the blocks I made, until it was split a part I didn't know exactly what the mounts looked like. I had to make inserts as the lower mounts on the frame are cupped in and the inserts helped align the bolts back to centre. The only reason I went 3" instead of 2" was if I had this much work I'm going to get max lift. ;D

sir lance,
I have a combination of BDS 2" springs and boondox coil spacers installed (with a little modification) which gave me 3" lift in the front and 3 1/4" in the rear. But the coils are still really stiff, my fillings are shaking loose ;D
Hope to have it all done by mid week and will post more pics.

nice! i'm happy with my 2inch body lift but 3 just might have been better... good work! see if you notice an exhaust smell when driving around without the rear bumpers covering the vents - i have on mine.
i'll be interested to see how the tire fit thing goes. with my lift my rears rub as you know which was why i was looking for a bit more lift. the weird thing is the tires only rub when at some speed for some reason....????....???? when i stuff them in the wheel wells other wise they seem to have a quarter inch of room left.....?????......???? that said we'll see when i put your 'heep' spacers in -thanks again!- also just an fyi for you when trimming cause it 'looks' ok but for some reason on mine it isn't.
-
one more thing that's good about your rig is that you don't have the plastic flares like my zr2 package came with. they've been a pain in the ass and without them and the mess under them i don't think i would have any rubbing issues.

I'm putting the RRO 2" body lift this weekend. Any last words or tips you guys might have? How long did it take you guys....Thanks in advance

There is a set of brake lines running across the fire wall behind the engine then down, make sure you remove the mounts on the body and on the frame to give enough seperation.
I did this by myself, on a gravel drive with limited tools etc, I jacked the entire chassis up and put four jackstands at the main cross braces in the floor then lowered the chassis back to the ground to get the clearence. Doing it myself took a grand total of 6 hours. I still have to modify/make bumper brackets and add the steering spacer.
It's close now, should be ready soon, just real busy with my small business and can't put more than a hour or so a day into it right now.
Good luck with your install. :)

Hey Lowrezolution
Just wondering what make of steel wheel you have? Did you have any issues clearing the callipers with them?
Been thinking of getting rid of my 15" inch rims and spacer if I can find a 16" that will fit nice.
-
I tried fitting those rims on without spacers and they would not fit and clear the calipers.

Remember that the 99+ GV/Vit/XL7 actually have different front brakes than the Trackers do. If you look them up online they are in fact different part numbers.
This means some wheels will fit a Tracker but not a GV, VERY few will fit a Suzuki, and some won't fit either. My wife and I are just sorta stuck with our OEM GV wheels because we haven't found any offroad oriented wheels that will actually clear the front brake calipers. Least they're good looking. :P
-
These wheels barely clip the calipers, where the round holes are flared inward it clips by about 1/16 of an inch.
I'm going to grind the calipers down and loose the 1/4" spacers. ;)
Wish I could find 1/8" spacers somewhere!!!!

Try parts stores. I've seen simple multi-pattern thin spacers in NAPAs and other parts stores.
It's been a while though.

Did the bumper lift, front was easy but the rear was a pain in the ass!
Just need to trim the fenders and find an extended rear brake flex and she's be ready for some wheelin' .
-
Nice work! I hope my tracker grows up to be just like yours ;D
-
looking really good! mine looks a little choppy without the bumpers but seeing how easily i've pulled them half off wheeling.. fine the way they are! also noticed after camping in the rain and feeling the need to have the backdoor open and music playing.. a bunch of water drained into some holes i left open in the back now water is sloshing around the body, it's making it's way out into my carpet as i'm parked on a hill.. we'll see how long it takes to dry this time.... something with water happened last year too....

Took it out for the first serious run today at the Gopher Dunes fall mud fest.
2 minutes in and the front end made a ugly noise and no more 4wd!!!! :'(
1 1/2 hour drive and the P O S craps the bed on the first trail !!! YEH!!!
I should just sell the P O S !

Eh, sounds harsh but that's the price to play. Don't get me started on my Ranger. ::)
Any ideas what went?

What did you end up doing for the rear??? I just left the steel sub-bumper off.

The front bumper was a easy, the rear was a bitch.
We ended up covering the fuel tank with a fire blanket and whipping out the plasma cutter for some surgery to allow the bottom of the bumper to snug up (and in) the crash bar across the frame rails. Fabbed up some brackets for the top and used some big self tappers(5/16) across the bottom to attach to the crash bar. Bumper cover fits nice and clean.
Had to hack the front cover for more clearence and the pinch welds in the inner fender are cut off, welded closed and seam sealed. The fender lip closes to the door was trimmed back about an inch and we seperated the inner lip and re-welded with the tig for strength. Just going to gravel gaurd that area and the whole rocker.

I'll take a pic of the transfer case shift, the auto shift lifted up with the body as there was a lot of slack in the shift cable.
-
When you did your 3" bd lift what did you do for the steering???

I'll take a pic of that too!
The lower joint (looks like a small driveshaft with u joints) was cut and we installed a piece of super thick wall DOM tube then tig welded it.
"looks factory" ;)
