RX7 engine is a sand and drag motor, I think a Diesel
is in order, keep tweeking the yellow Track/Kick in your
offroad quest

140 ed hp 7500 rpm or a turbo i need 50 more hp ( not need want ) roto motor rips good rpms and hp dont know about torque has to be more than a 16 valve. thinking bigger should be better stan

1.9 TD VW engine, Gary at PetroWorks said
he had to put a delay in the turbo boost line
because the torque came on too soon, as if
that were a problem, any how, it's not the
HP that moves you, it's the torque, and a
1.9TD is a very good choice for your wheeling
needs.
You might want a dual Transfer Case for those
44s you are going to replace the 39.5 Pits with ;)

Having had an RX-7 and worked it a bit over time I would go with a good turbo diesel offroad as torque is king in my opinion. Seeing as all the info and bits for a VW 1.9 converesion are readily available I think it is worth considering. That's not to say it won't work but to get the rotary to work well gearing will be everything. I know of a Sammi that runs a 660cc turbo engine from a Suzuki Cappucino that works great because it revs to 9500rpm and the gearing is worked around it even though the torque is not great. It also runs tall and skinny rubber. Don't forget the running costs of a rotary ;)

Dude, I would hate to see it happen BUT, if you can use alot of the parts on your new idea, I would cut her up and/or strip all the goodies off and replace it with stocker stuff and sell it. It will be hard to get your $'s out of all tha aftermarket items you have added. If you plan to use the axles, t-case, lift componets etc..... That would probably result in your best $'s recovery.
Hell, Throw it on the market first and see what you can get out of her. If you dont get the results you need to keep her from getting attacked by some plazma, then cut her up.

PS, DAMN I cant wait to see what is coming up next :o
