I was thinking of mildly turbo charging my tracker, but I dont know how I would get it to pass the stupid visual inspection when I get it smogged in california. Any sugestions? I also was wondering how to get more fuel through the single injector so it wouldnt run lean.

not much help here no the smoggin but i might be able to help with the fuel.
do you have an 8v or 16v?
-
You cannot add a turbo and be legal.
You can flow a little more fuel, but only
to get 2-3 PSI boost.
Answer, do a Diesel swap, get a Smog
Exempt Cetification, Diesels don't get
smogged, at least early ones don't and
now you can swap any engine with no
smog problems.

Wild, how do you get around smog? Is this what you did?

Not yet, I have a friend that has selective
sight, as long as I blow the right #s he's OK
with it.

A friend of my nephew had a late model Trans-Am with a turbo that was mounted in the back of the car underneath just in front of the back bumper. I can't imagine that it was as efficient as if it were under the hood where it belongs but looking under the hood you would have never known it was a turbo. According to my nephew it would blow away the normally aspirated Trans-Ams and Camaros of the same vintage so maybe it works. Seems like there would be a hell of a lot of lag but maybe I'm wrong.
Probably your best bet is a good old fashioned bribe! :o ;D

If I was to convert it to diesel, I might never go back to gasoline :P ;D But then you could turbocharge the diesel ;D Has anyone done a diesel swap on a trackick?
-
There have been several that have been done. If you do a search you will see a few.
I think this is the way I am going to go as well....which means I will have an 8V turbo for sale soon :D
