Title: just did the search
Post by: bus_driver on August 29, 2006, 09:45:35 AM
on my high idle problem........ when I start it sits a 2000 pm then when half way warm it is perfect at 900 rpm then when fully warm it is 1200rpm and if I have been driving and come to a stop it is 1000rpm and then slowly goes up to 1200 again....is this the wax pelllet thingy or what i was thinking is the coolant temp sensor on the engine.

I am goin to bypass the wax pellet....but I was also running a little lean will the pellet creat the since it is essentially an air leak.

thank again for any help on the matter.

You are referring to the air valve, it allows air from the airbox to bypass the throttle body when the engine is cold, you could try blocking off the pipe and seeing if it behaves when warm.

yes I am talking about the cold start idle control....it is a wax controlled choke is it not? if that wears out is it like having an air leak in the throttle body making the truck run lean and a little higher revving at idle.
