Title: Well I got a surprise today...
Post by: cablesmurf on August 29, 2006, 09:57:28 PM
Got my tires back from the shop today...they are 32s, but they look huge beside my Tracker!

Here is a side by side comparison with my spare. The tire on the lft is a 32x11.50 15 Superswamper SX at 50% tread. The tire on the right is a 32x11.50R15 superswamper SSR at 100% tread. The SX measures excatly 30", while the SSR measures 32.5".

I thinks I've got my work cut out for me! :o :P

Just goes to show ya that each tire is different in it's own special way.
If ya don't want them, just send them my way and I'll trade ya some 31"s ;) ;D

How much air is in those? They look pretty full, if a shop did them, they are prolly at 35 or so.. make sure you air them down at least to 23... more likely about 18-20 for the street... that will make them a LITTLE less tall, lol...  I lose almost an inch when I air down from 20 to trail pressure of 5 psi... I have never had 30 in them (31" TSL LTBs) They are around 30.5" at 20 psi, and about 29.5" at trail pressure.

That is gonna look just KILLER...   do a 3" suspension lift and trim and bang the HELL out of it.. cut down the rocker panels about 2" and install sliders..

See if you can do it with NO body lift!!   That would just ROCK!

Also, there is no way in hell I would put that spare on the carrier.. I don't think it will handle the weight....  especially after a lot of trail bouncing..

besides, you don't need a spare with those tires... LOL... they will run flat for quite a while..

Nice tires, nice wheels.

What wheels do you have? what width and backspacing?? I am anxious to see those installed that will look killer..

Get those on and all you will have to do it take a heat gun to that vinyl and peel it off! (JK Gen.... I just had to...)

Well, since I've already started the BL, it's gonna stay. I just wish Calmini would hurry the hell up with thier production...I WANT MY LIFT!!!

The rims are Mickey Thompson Baja's and are 15x8 w/ 3 3/4 BS...if it's not enough, I'll fab up or purchace some 1" spacers.

As for the spare, I'm building a new rear bumper with a swing out, so that will support the weight. I'll also be modifying a Jamboree rack from a YJ to fit on the swing out as well...stay tuned...should be sweet!

The Vinyl will be comming of as soon as I trim the fenders and spray the rockers with Herculiner. Just waiting to get the whole lift in to determine how much I'll need to trim. I wish someone had some decent pics of trimming and how to re-create the lip. I've trimmed my Jeeps before, but that's a little different as I was able to cover up the sharp edges with door edge guard and flares.

Can't wait to see it...  sounds killer.

How much did those rims set you back?

That is a full inch more backspace than I am running with 15x8 wheels, and 11.50 wide tires.. I don't get frame rub, so you will prolly be OK, report back and let us know. I love those wheels!

Got the BL half done today (blocks only). Took me about 5 hrs working alone. I'll be back at it tomorrow.  Here are some sneak pics...

Nah, it's just on there for the pic. I'm building a new rear bumper with swing out tire rack. Same as this one... I love how it hides the BL gap at the rear.

Mine will have the tire centered and placed lower though so I can use a Jamboree rack like this...

Make sure you get out the tape measure and check your garage door height, it would suck to back that kick ass rig outside for the first time and clean the door off with the roof!!!! ILMAO  ;D

Rig looks sweet!!!

"Calmini hurry the f**k up!!!!!!!"

Love the bumper!  Without the racks & cans though for me!  Then again, I like the graphics too!  Otherwise, looks like just another (lifted, good looking) blue tracker!

In the pics is that just the body lift and stock suspension?
Curious because i did a 2 inch susp lift and I am installing my calmini body lift tomorrow on mine. I also cut fenders straight (kinda like jeeps) and can run 31's now but after the body lift I can't decide what size to run 31,32,33.

Ill see if I can get you some pics of my fender trimming.

I'm in love with thoes MT Baja Wheels!! Nice choice. I'm also curious if you only have stock suspension in that pic, no coil spacers?

BTW - I have a funny feeling onece you install the 3" suspension kit, you'll have to completely flatten the tires to drive out of the garage.... LOL

Stock supension and BL only. The pics may be a little decieving because it is still up on jackstands. I think it'll sit about an inch or so higher than it is right now. It will clear the garage no problem. I've had a TJ with a 6" lift and 35's in there before. ;D

Well, since my tires measure at 32.5", you should be fine with 33's beacuase that's what most 33's measure anyways.
