Title: different shift boot
Post by: kirk70 on January 27, 2005, 07:28:18 AM
putting a 3" lift on has caused some changes in my gear shift and the factory boot is in a slight bind.  where can i find a leather boot, or some other softer pliable material.
i would like somthing that will cover up the hole to keep the noise, dust, and cold air down a little.

i used my factory shift boot. i cut it down bolted it to the floor plate, and bolted the floor plate to the floor. and i removed the center console.

I have a 4 inch body lift, I used the shifter boot out of a mid 80s s-10 pickup, and the tcase boot from a 98+tracker.  works and looks great

Just put your stock boot back in upside down.  Works great.

Yup.. The inner (lower) boot.  You put it in upside down, and it telescopes right down to the transfer case.  Seals it up good, works great.

Hey Bob, got a pic of your boots? I also remember you had a cool manual shifter setup with a cool knob. Wasn't it a skull or something?

It's a Spidertrax Spider.
I'll see if I can hobble out to the rig, and snap a pic.  There are advantages to being home, sick!...

Here you go!

You want my spider Heather?
'Cause I think I'm moving to a Hawk Green Shifter.

I wonder if it will fit on one of my tcase shifters.. but I think I should probably actually "buy" something from spidertrax to make it "legal".

hmmm

That looks like the way to go Bob,

I think I'll change mine around like that too now that I've seen how  simply putting it in upside down would have been so much easier than the shagging around way I done  it :-[

Funny how one never sees the easy logical solution while actually doing the job  :P

BTW all,

That's how a Kicker 3 looks installed with a sammy case.

Hey, I bought it from Spidertrax.  You can HAVE it if you want it.  Special offer, available only to YOU.  'Cause you're "special", don't you know!

Yeah, I wish I had figured it out before I cut my first one up - had to get a replacement from Hawk Strictly Suzuki - and a replacement shifter, because I bent the hell out of my original, before I got the replacement, cut it and welded in the 3" extension.

Sounds fair - I'll have your bikini, but you'll have my knob.

I'll bring it to Moab!

Also, here's all I did to the console to make my shifter work with my 3" body lift.. I think my tcase shifter boot is backwards.. But I did also cut and weld a 3" extension.
