Title: TDC marking on Tranny
Post by: lacrosse10604 on September 03, 2006, 08:53:47 AM
I've got a 93 kick, 4dr, 5spd. I'm trying to find TDC. I know I need to view the flywheel marks through the tranny. I can't find the slot on the tranny to look through. Can't someone give me a decription of where its at or a pic?

Thanks,

Dave

I don't think my Auto trans has one, the
Man trans has this???

You can find TDC from the timing marks on the
front pulley too, sorry I can't be of more help
on the flywheel marks.

I thought they had it, but since I can't find it and yours doesn't either maybe they don't. I'm doing the diesel swap and the kick engine has long since been removed.....

The VW engines have a timing hole and a mark,
this I know. What Diesel are you using ???

I'm thinking about a Diesel swap and adding a turbo
(got to have a turbo  ;D ) for my kick

Good Luck

Flywheel marks are only on the 1.3 engine.

Flywheel marks are only on the 1.3 engine.

x2 on that -- except it's the transmission bell housing on the SJ-413/Samurai that has the viewing hole for the timing marks on the edge of the 1.3 flywheel.

Not being familiar with Diesels, I would say that removing the timing belt cover to expose any markings on the front of the crank will solve the problem.

There is a Diesel forum at Zuwharrie.com and on Yahoo Groups that might be a source of information for you.  You can find several Diesel links - including the ones mentioned above - at Ack's FAQ (the link is in my signature) by typing in diesel as a search word.
