hi friends!! my name's Enrico I come from Italy and I have a GV 1.6 3door.
I'm sorry if I don't write to perfectio....so...
I'd like to install a low gear... much low than originals... is it correct?
I knows the calmini's rockcrawler gear with reduction ratio of 4.24:1 but they are "too low" for my purpose...
do you know if exists low gear with reduction ratio of about 2:1 or 2.2:1?
tanks for any answer!!!

nobody?

All the t-case gears are around the 4:1 mark. They are really great if you love crawling or steep climbs and descents and really help to slow an auto downhill.

thanks... i know but i have to go through woods, i don't need extreme trial performance, i'd like to "put on" (i don't know the english for) a 215-80-15 tires "re-builded" tha are more heavy than new tires... so my engine has only 94hp and the deep mud and comeing up steep slopes are hard situations for it.... calmini tells me that with 5th low gear and with 31" tires max speed is about 25km\h... too low for mud...
have i explaned well?

You might what to change your ring & pinion gears vs just you low rage. This would bring your speedo readings back to normal too.

A 215/80R15 is only 28.5" not 31". A 1.5" jump over stock size is not that big. Maybe a little more power would help.
-
maybe.... i'll study your suggestions...
i've seen that there in USA you have all very big tires... here in italy is impossible!!!!
-
sorry blacknight i don't understand... if i change ring & pinion i change the ratio of all gears? low and hight?
-
After rereading the post I thought you had 31" tires but seeing that you have 28.5" tires the ring and pinion may not be the way to go. I would have to go with CJ try to get more power.
As for changeing the ring & pinion yes it will change your over all gearing high or low.

ok... now is clear...
