Ok my next problem I have had 3 kicks now and all 3 leaked the bulk of it seems to run in down the fire wall and fill up the floor with water.  Does any one know where the water comes from and how to stop it.  I think some silicone would stop it and i am sure someone else has had the same problem so please help thanks........CJ

Hi cj11,
I too have had this happen. Tracked it down to the drain bungs in the fresh air intake being blocked ( the grill bit behind the bonnet and below the wind screen ) - cleaned them out and problem gone :)
Also happened when the front disappeared during a river crossing ??? with the heater set on "fresh air intake" LOL ::)

"( the grill bit behind the bonnet and below the wind screen )"
or, as we say here in the States, the grill part, behind the hood, and under the windsheild... (lol)

Do you mean the vent below the wipers do I have to get that off and clean in there.

You guys ;)
CJ11 - no just hose it out after you have cleaned out the drain bungs ( if that is what you call bungs ;) )

I am only joking with you Zeuszuki thanks for the help I hope this works f*#king sick of the water.

pulled it all apart and if you are talking about the 2 notches under the plastic cover they are clean nothing in there at all it is raining here and they are dry inside. Any other ideas on where the water could come from.

Take your fenders off and check behind them on the bit of the firewall that the fenders cover about 2' below the windshield. Did this recently with my '96 and yeah...had some spooky rust there. I bet if I took my '90's fenders off I'd find holes. Anytime it rains that thing has water slooshing around in the footwells.
I was convinced it was a windshield seal problem until I took the fenders off and saw that. :P
I cleaned the rust up really well on mine on both sides, hit it with Chassis Saver to stop the rust, and then globbed Herculiner into every bit of it when I did the rest of the body. That should stop the leaks.
I've also seen people use silicone sealant on other vehicles.

???
You got me then :-\ .

Have you put anything thought the main wirering harness rubber boot like uhf lead, spotlight wires, etc.
Water will run off the edge of the rubber seal at the back of bonnet under the front window and straight onto the harness travel along and into the car.

That is coverd with silicone I have checked every where and nothing so i ran some silicone under the windsheild on the out side looks like that might be the spot. Well i will find out next time it rains..

I have tried everything silicone all over and totaly resealed the windows on the hard top stoped the leak in the back but still leaking in the front. Where the hell is it comeing from can any one help please. chris

I'm having the same issues with my tracker leaking and have tried all the remedies listed here to no avail. I was wondering if you figured out what it was yet CJ11 before I take my dash apart to find the leaks?

Or...
Cowl [koul] [Origin: bef. 1000; ME cou(e)le, OE cugele, c?le < LL cuculla monk's hood, var. of L cucullus hood] The part under the behind the hood but before the windshield. The top portion of the front part of an automobile body, supporting the windshield and dashboard.

Could it be coming past the seals on the wiper spindles?
-
It's possible it's coming in there. I will try the garden hose on them and watch.
I removed my windshied at the beginning of the summer and the part beneath the windshield was totally rotted out, most of what was left of the metal came out with the windshield. I formed and welded in new material at the time. I used lots of windowsealer and I don't think it's coming in around the window. My firewalls were rotted to and I replaced those as well with alot of cutting and welding. Actually I had to redo the door posts as well. Now that I think of it the whole body was pretty rotted when i started, but I only paid 100.00 for it. It seems that the leak further up kept the insulation soaked which rotted everything, I've only owned this tracker for about 8 months. I think if I take the dash out I will see any areas that I could have missed between the two places. I should have removed the dash when I had the window out, but I was in a rush.
