What are the transmission / T-case options behind these trucks.
Any Similarity to the 1st Gen Tracker Sidekick. Getting a Sammy T-case involved would solve the great gearing issue.
Are the GV-XL-7 2wd Transmissions and 4wd Transmissions interchangable or a seperate item.

Can anyone give me a picture of a 4-wd transmission tailhousing, or front of the T-case.

Xl7 output splines are different on the automatics vs. GV or Sidekick. Here's a package of parts that do fit together no adapters. '03 2.7 XL7 engine | '03 GV automatic | '93 Sidekick t-case with Calmini Crawler gears. Manual transmissions on the GV and XL7 have different splines that won't work with crawler gears but the 'cases' bolt together.
Hope that helps.

What is the spline count for the Manual GV? And the auto?
Does anyone know the difference between 1999-2001 and 2002-2005 gearboxes? They seem to be different for some reason. Besides, the manual says there are two types, mine is type 2, are all 2002-2005 type 2?

I was told by Calmini that it differnce between the AT and the Man. tran t-cases was how long the out-shaft was. Which was why they only have t-case gears for the AT .
Hope this helps some.

But the Calmini page says:
*FITS ALL NON V6 MANUAL EQUIPPED VEHICLES*
It also says only 1999-2002 vehicles! What I'm guessing is manual gear case 1999-2002 is type 1 and 2003-2005 is type 2. And 2003 auto somehow goes straight in the sidekick gearbox, accorgding to whitfield. Which possibly means that 1999-2002 (Type 1 manual gearboxes) don't have splines compatible with sidekick transfer boxes, but possibly 2003-2005 do... I think I'm going to get myself a sidekick tranny to see ::)

With the XL7 the spline count is different and larger. Speaking from experience with the automatic only.
