Another thing with my friends ride,
Whenever she fills up the tank to FULL on her tracker the engine light comes on.
(she does not overfill)
Then maybe when it goes down to about half... it turns off.
(and we both have checked that the cap is properly tightened)
???

Have you checked for codes?
-
no one will be able to help untill you get the codes read. unless they have had that same problem and had their codes read
-
well... was wondering if it was a "normal" occurrance
(if anyone else had it and paid it no mind)

I believe when that happens its actualy a check "wallet" lights. The tracker is just telling you that you got ripped off at the pumps. ;D

Only things I can think of are maybe its a problem with the charcoal canister or maybe its an earthing problem

What year?
I just had to replace a FUEL Tank PSi switch on 96 Tracker. The switch / sensor was bad.
On the OBDII, (As I understand) once the code is set (5 failure occurances) it will hold the code and light the CEL for (Test / No Fail) 50 start cycles.

96
how much was the switch?

Don't remember exactly, But from the dealer it was stupid expensive...
I got mine used from Sean at Aftermarket4x4.com for a very reasonable price.
