spent the other night here 5 hrs approx going through the grand vitara sections. trying to gane some knolage on these things.
first im in south australia.
im new with 4x4 ownership my self but been in the 4x4 sceen for some quite years.
father & friends all own v6 pajero's , nissan's , range rover , landcruser's & some are associated with or own 4x4 buisnesses & part sales.
IE: mount lofty rangers 4wd club
TRIPS: 3 x across the simpson desert 2 4x4 & 1 bike , SE of S.A beach driving/sand hill , kimberlys & private area shale hill/mud/creek crossings.
no rock hopping U.S talk or high country over here NSW (new south wales - another state over here) to extreme for me & hard on the parts. ive seen to many diff lockers blown/bent axles etc for my wallet.
now for my Q's:
theres heaps of different lift kits. whats the best kits avaliable & whats a quick fix kit avaliable.
what dealars/inporters are there in AUSTRALIA ?

i would see suzisport stores for kits or even tuff dog, they do a mean jimny lift.
but if u want to spend money a couple of guys in bris have got the calmini lift
i too am working on a store providing GV stuff selling and making stuff,
for the duel battery check the other thread by pittracker that we posted on

yeh i read the TJM post & see there no good.
tough dog: ill check them out
- the old man is running them in his pajero NOT having a good run 2 sets of shocks now in the rear. (but he does carry a lot of weight in the work trailer SOLID PLASTERER & RENDERER)
duel battery got that sussed just have to do it - first thing i looked for ROOM under the bonnet LOL
good luck on setting up your store.
-
lift kit?
have you heard of Old Man Emu? ::)
i consider to buy a kit, it's the only kit i found that is TÜV approved and has longer front shocks.
calmini is not TÜV approved, then i will get trouble with the authorities if i install it.
-
yeh good quality & very common product here :)
i gotta catch up with a mate in the club he runs a 4x4 accessory shop. also we (club) get discount through there.
i did'nt know calmini were not tuv approved . that squashes that product :-\
-
TRAILMASTER also got a GV kit, tüv approved.
that kit does not include rear shocks, so i guess i will settle with OME :)
joining this site is gonna cost you a lot, im wechile mods... ;)
WELCOME BY THE WAY.... ;D

Haha...35 mm... c'mon. Where do you want to go with only 35mm of lift???

Keep in mind that beerman is in Norway.

Seems we have similar tastes, I have a 2000 GV and a 1996 XR600 myself. Love the dual headlights, are they from BajaDesigns?

i can get the OME, it will take me where ever i want ;)
the other choice is to ilegally modify my GV, if you'r country does not care if you'r lift kit is approved, -lift it all you dare! (at least i whould go calmini and add a 2-3" bodylift ;D)
OR i can get a XL7 and ship it to Arctic Trucks, it sets me back NOK114000,- it translates to US $17500,- yes that's almost the US start price of the 06 GV :o
+the expence of a new XL7, NOK 374 900 (us $57 761)
this is how it turns out http://www.dinside.no/php/art.php?id=33856
i like it a lot, but too expensive for me :(
-
Oooh, that's nice. beerman, know what size tires those are?
Wonder what they use to make those flares?
-
check the 2 vitara in this vid.
They are both from my area and roll legally on road.

305/70-16...... or 33"
flares? is that the part that covers the tyre, that makes the car wider?
-
Yeah, I know the icelandic boys like to cut the fenders out to fit the bigger tires and then they use the flares to cover that and the wider tires.
-
ok, then the FLARES are made of fiberglass :)
i think it might hawe been a better choice to use some material like the BUSHWALKERS (or what they where called)
on Iceland they drive mainly on snow, not in the forrest like here in Norway.
so they make the cars really wide, but not as tall as i whould like.
flex is not so good either (it's possible to make it better ;))
-
Yeah, I've seen (and drooled) over their trucks. They don't need uber flex to go rock crawling, just big, wide tires and the lowest center of gravity possible to go over the snow/ice pack. 8)
The shame of it is I know people here in the States that have inquired about buying some of their stuff for use here and haven't ever gotten much in the way of a response.
