Title: The Samurai World needs a friend in INDIA
Post by: rkteckt on September 23, 2006, 11:29:49 PM
Forgive me for cross posting.....

We need to find a junkyard in india that will crate parts and ship them over in bulk. Im thinking an entire gypsy king body minus frame and engine should be pretty easy to get through customs.....?

SO save your old sammys, dont lose the legal title and keep at least a couple of vin number stamps.......someday someone could use them to ressurect your rust bucket with imported parts....

Im saving up for an ambulance myself....lol

The list price on one of these works out to about 10k in us dollars

Thanks for the better link, I had that one earlier but lost it.

Its nice to know that the Samurai lives on somewhere, even if america doesnt realize its glory.....lol

I mean think of it, samurais have probably killed fewer people than explorers, particularily if you take emmisions and pollution into account......they are cheap to make, cheap to repair, run forever, can go anywhere,  cute, good mileage, easy on tires, easy to get into and out of, easy on the roads, awesome college ride, great for getting groceries, great for driveway plowing, great for hunting.......the list goes on and on.

the only thing it isnt good at is meeting DOT regulations for airbags and bumpers and side impact.......

Lets compromise, an aftermarket airbag package.......some beefy exocage door tubes that stick out about 8 inches past the door.......some spray on foam padding on all interior metal surfaces to catch your head........some bigger beefier bumpers.......throw in a 3 cyl turbo diesel......maybe the coil spring suspension from the jimny......maybe some IFS from the tracker..........

It could be brought back......maybe.......someday.........i mean we are getting the freaking smart car we can get a samurai again....... :-)

No a sammy would never have IFS, coils maybe, but IFS never.

im just suggesting cheap ways to modernize a sammy to make it sellable for the US market again, improving the ride and handling with IFS would be easy because the tracker engineering is still around, would just need to adapt it to a samurai.

Hummer has proven that people will buy a suv with extreme exterior cladding, so put all the protective steel on the outside as a factory exo cage across doors and rear passenger area.

We all hate the protruding jeep bumpers, but I would put up with a dumb looking factory bumper on a brand new samurai.

Yeah, your right, that would only make a sammy  BETTER!
