A buddy of mine was saying this was possible, either with FI or carb, anyone ever do this? How did it work?
-
it is possible but u need to bore out the block, put in a more agressive cam to take advantage of the bigger head. its also possible to put the 1.3l head on a 1.6l block
-
I've done it, both ways and never had to bore out anything or add bigger cams to make it work properly. you will need to add an electric fuel pump since there are no provisions on the 1.6 head for a mechanical one.

How well did the 1.6 head work on the 1.3?
-
definitely an increase in power almost throughout the entire rpm curve. bigger intake/exhaust ports with a cam close to the isky torquer specs and with the fuel injection, it had a snappier throttle
-
How about the other way around? a 1.3 head on a 1.6? Also, can you put the 1.6 16 valve head on a 1.6 8v block?
-
1.3 head on the 1.6 block very torquey motor, more low end grunt than if it had the original 1.6 head.
cant put the 16 valve head onto the 8V block w/o changing the pistons.

I am doing my swap this weekend, is it worth bolting up my 1.3 head? What problems could I run into?
-
I had heard that the 1.3L had a smaller CC head chamber making a 1.3L head on a 1.6L block Higher compression.  AND a 1.6L head on a 1.3L lower compression.
I've always heard that until you get close to WOT smaller ports are better because they increase velocity quicker. making the 1.3L snappier off the bottom on a 1.6L block. ÂÂ
5 years ago a 1.3L head with 1.6L exh valves and an Isky cam wa a hot mod.
