Title: power switch
Post by: rvgonda on September 29, 2006, 12:32:38 PM
Advice needed:

My power switch doesn't work on my 2003 4x4 2dr automatic-tran Tracker. The dash light lights up with"power" but the shift pattern otherwise remains the same.

Anyone know how to fix this? The vehicle is out of warranty and I don't want to pay big$$ for Chevy dealer to scratch their heads in an easter-egg hunt yet.

Any and all advice welcome!

Ray

It's a pretty subtle difference.  My money says it actually is working just fine.  It's easiest to sense by starting from a stop and accelerating very slowly.  You'll notice after repeating it with "power" on and off that the upshifts from gear to gear are actually delayed a bit in the "power" setting, occuring at a slightly higher rpm.  There's also something about, if you put the tranny in 2nd and switch "power" on, it will start from a stop already in 2nd, but I haven't had cause to try that yet.  That should be easy to sense, too.

Put a trailer on or go up a sandy hill, and you can tell the difference.
