Title: High Idle on my 97 Escudo 2.0 JLX

My engine intermitently idles at between 2000 and 3500 rpms. Most recently the check engine light has come on for a while then goes off.

What could be causing this?

Does it use a timing belt or a timing chain?

I would check the fuel electric pump, fuel lines and filter.
