Title: Opinion: Performance camshaft from Hawk Suzuki, looky look.
Post by: Tracker_Camps96 on October 02, 2006, 12:57:29 PM
I was just wondering if anyone has a performance camshaft in their Tracker/Kick.   Hawks Suzuki makes a Phase 1 Torquer camshaft and my girlfriend said she might buy it for my birthday on October 30th.

Anyone know how much power Im looking at gaining?  Do I need a chip at all?

Since Im getting good with the paint and rust removal stuff, I wont be spending any more money on body work since getting my right door and quarter panel replaced.   I will be replacing my front fender myself and taking some rust off myself.   I want to spend some more on strictly performance.   My dream is to be able to take down some of the faster cars in the area, like Mustangs, Camaros, and all the rice burners.   With the new cam and finally getting a performance catalytic conv. installed eventually, I hope to maybe be able to do it.   My exhaust may have the header and 2" piping and perf. muffler, but with that stock cat in there, that must be pretty restrictive.

Give me your thoughts!

Keep dreaming. Maybe drop a v8 in that thing and you can race Mustangs and camero's.

yea, I can keep up to my buddies 89' Camaro with the 2.8 V6 in it...  Of course, the third gen Camaros are land whales, especially with just a 2.8..    ;D

Damn, either I never realized how slow those Detroit sleds were, or I never realized how quick our Trackicks are! Mines pretty peppy, but out of the hole its kinda slow with the auto and 31" tires. Good luck racing!

I got a manual and street performance rubber, I can keep up with some competition that most of my friends dont think could have happened.   They always ask "I dont think he was racing you, you were just racing him" or stuff like that.   I had that post a ways back about me showing an Eclipse up through a very winding road, blew it away in the corners.   Too bad the road was too narrow or Id have passed him.   Ive put down Cavaliers (piece of cake, even if modified), many Civics (not too hard unless its like an Si, but not many of them here), plenty and plenty of big modifed trucks who thought they were hot shit ready to tromp a Geo, and I want that list to keep going on.

So, anyone any suggestions with the cam?????

Have you called Hawk? Have a chat and learn about where the cam works. It is more for low to mid and then goes flat at the top end. I had a custom grind done for my 16v and it really made a difference along with fitting an adjustable cam gear.
