Title: Maunual hub not working
Post by: trizacker on January 19, 2005, 11:50:54 AM
On my Truck I lock the hubs and the cv shaft feels locked but none of the front tires spin and it seems like the 1 cv shaft is spining freely. Can I fix this or what

Hub could do that too, I would
like to know if it's on ~ stock tires
or not.

Could it be the Knutson valve, or the Throckmorton biangular flange?  Maybe flushing the works with Chlorinated Turbo Blinker Fluid would help?

(Please don't look any of these words up in your Service Manual, or ask about them - this is humor!)

I agree would make a great tech article (even the service manual doesn't cover hub maintenance and/or repair) ...

Will this also cover the greasing of Hi Perf Muffler bearings?

puhleeze ... I know the damn things are simple, but I've seen it asked often.

Things like proper grease, watch for that little ball or that spring, etc ...

Ok, maybe not a "great" tech article, but a useful sticky thread?

There's nothing much to them, I used this http://www.yankeetoys.org/Documents/AisinHubs.pdf as a reference for the first time I striped one down just to make sure I got it all back together correctly.

Cheers Mudfkr

I posted a walkthrough on dismantling and repacking in a post entitled "frozen hubs"or something like that within the last week, that should give you an idea of what's necessary. Its not hard to do. check out that site too.  hope that helps.
