Title: Water leek
Post by: toofaroffroad on October 15, 2006, 08:46:18 AM
So I bought a 1999 Tracker in july, great deal, low miles and everything works great. Now it's rainny season. I've noticed a leek on the passanger side floor collecting near the door. I spent about a half hour trying to find where it was coming from. Nothing obvious anyway. Anyone had this problem or got any ideas?

I think you'll find that it's water from the air conditioning system.  I know several people have had problems with this type of thing on the early models.  The water drains out of the car in that area.  Wish I could give you more info.  Good luck.

THanks for the info, I don't have AC though. it's the base model and it only happens when it rains.I'll keep digging around

soft top?  bumper covers removed?  mine did this in the rain but the back window zipper didn't close all the way, i just had it replaced and am waiting for heavy rain to see what happens.....  i thought my water was inside the rail by the door but it wasn't it was actually in the rear quarter panel just behind the door.  turns out the when a bunch of dirt and shit gets up in there it plugs the the opening under the body where water is apparently supposed to drain out..  who knows though..

------  hey toofaroffroad,

how are those 1/4inch spacers working out for you?

If you mean the wheel spacers, they are great. I got them for like 20.00$ on ebay.

I can't figure it out. My truck is a 4 door ,no soft top issues. Get this though. My driveway slopes down a little bit and I usually drive striaght in. When I back in the leeking stops.

ok, underneath, just in front of the rear wheel wells there are a bunch of seems between the body panels, the body supposedly should drain through this area.  it can clog up with mud and such in there, i took high pressure air the 1st time, the 2nd i just stuck a little nail up in there and water started leaking out.  it's raining like hell here today, i just may have to get in there again and i can take a pic, we'll see when the rain stops.
