His profile says his location is "I can see Mexico." By that I'm assuming he's likely living in the wonderful political state of Californistan.
Californistan is notorious for its incredibly strict SMOG & Emissions restrictions/'standards' by which ALL vehicles must abide. :-/
If you're living in california, The_Dude, my advice for fixing your Smog problem...MOVE TO A FREE STATE!

C'mon now - how many states can say that?
California, Aridzona, New Mexico, and Texas...
You're probably right though.
Sure glad I don't have to pass an emissions test!
-
I had emissions testing in WA when I lived near Bellevue, moved to Snoqualmie, and now no testing ... same county, but the air is clear out here ;D

I should have seen those ones coming! :P
I will send more detail when I get home. I basically failed all 3 categories.
Anybody seen this?

My 96 kick failed too, one O2 sensor later I was a free man.

OK.. I did some looking on this.. and it sounds interesting, but I just HAD to show this letter from a guy to smogbusters - I found this by going to "more information" at the bottom of the page, then "test results" on the next site, and clicking the reports that were faxed in by users.
I found this funny:

You have to take apart the motor for a converter? :o

I don't know about his car, but I drive an '85 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham, (88,000 miles and running perfect) and it doesn't require removing the motor for the c. converter... It just needs to be lifted up to change it out.
MN Doesn't even HAVE emissions testing if I recall correctly... :)

I'm coming to terms with the fact that I am a "GROSS POLLUTER".
I think I will go hug some trees at lunch time...
HeHe!
Oh yeah smog busters are on ebay too..
-
Change out the cat, it cleans
up lots of offending polutants,
the dirtier the car runs the harder
the cat has to work, and the sooner
it will burn out and stop working.
My cat is shot, I have a 3" ready to
go into a 3" exhaust system, as soon
as I get around to doing it. I know I
won't pass snog until I do this change.
