Does anyone know if there is a mount that can be attached to the original spare tire of a 1996 Tracker that can hold a gas can? I would like to have something that can be attached right over the spare tire using the three spare tire bolts and can hold a 5 gal plastic gas can for my 4x4 trips. Anyone ever heard of such a thing?

I made one out of steel it bolts to the lugs and the can mounts to the steel with 4 bolts. It holds a red steel jerry can . Since then I had turned it into a mount for the high lift jack. Will see if i have any pics of it with the can if not will post pics with the jack you should still get the idea... chris

Did you mount the gas can instead of the spare or with the spare? I think the original question was about mounting both on the spare tire mount. If that works, I will quit worrying about weight of the spare tire on mine cracking the rear door sheet metal on rough roads.

I have both the tire and the mount will post pics later today. New baby so free time is rare I am at work now ...

I have the exact thing, gas can mount on spare tire. I got mine from Olympic 4x4.

Been running this combo with a 31" Super Swamper spare on a steel rim for almost 2yrs now without a problem.
