Hey Guys, I've got problems with the charging system in my Kick. I got a new battier and a new alternator. put them both in a month ago and the same thing starts up last night.
You start the motor. You turn on the lights. The radio is on. Here it is, turn on the AC/HEATER fan Radio go's off, turn the fan off, radio comes back on. Turn wipers on, hit the turn signal, wipers slow down to nothing.
When this happened the first time, tested the alternator and they said it was bad. But come on. Is there something makeing the alternator go bad. Please help it's about to drive me crazy

I would do a check of all your wiring. Specifically, look for black wires that connect to the truck's body. These are ground wires. Make sure that those black ground wires are tightly secured. If not tighten them down or replace the bolt/connector that looks loose/damaged/broken. A lifted/broken ground wire can cause strange problem not unlike what you are describing.
my 2 cents worth...

I'm not a expert in mechanics but as an electrician I can say that you REALLY seem to have a short-circuit in your system.
Somewhere, a positive cable must be eroded an touch partially to the negative body of your truck. That drain the energy so you dont have any left to use.
That also explain the short life of your alternator. No generator of any kind can be shorted and survive long.
Just check all your conductors and search for any heat in one of them. Short-circuits tend to make the wire go hot very rapidly. A trick is to spray a little bit of water on your cables while using a lot of current in your car (like the rear defrost, lots of amps needed for that). If a cable is really hot due to a short, you will see a tiny trace of vapor coming out of it. Of course, it will not work if the motor is turning so the ideal is to connect your system to an external battery that you can drain without risk.
Hope it can help.
