Hey guys Ive searched all over the net and cant find anything...the other day my check engine light came on and the o/d light flashed....so i pulled the code that said "Trans range sensor circuit malfunction" Now i believe this is the part on the trans that tells the computer what gear its in? Whether its Park neutral or reverse....its a 1996 auto 4x4...i have a guy who has a whole trans but i dont even know what this thing looks like or were it is on the the trans...anyone have a clue the dealer wants $316 bucks to fix it!!! :-[ SO my question is what is the trans sensor ....does anyone have any pics(im more of a visual person) or can anyone at least tell me something about what i need to do cause no one know what im talking about......thanks so much guys without this forum i woulda just dropped 170 on my egr valve but intead i searched on here and cleaned it and its working great...
has anyone out there had this problem! thanks in advance

Anybody have any suggestions...still having the problem...also having some problems starting now...turn the key and it cranks then suddenly itl stop cranking and all i here is starter whirl....i need help im getting really close to just take it to a shop and pay out the nose for whatever it is....please help
