Buy one from Ebay, just ask to make sure they ship abroad. I got a nice Actron for $75.00 not too long ago.

Where do you live? If in Canada, Princess Auto(like Harbour Freight in US) has OBDII scanners on sale this month for $99.99CAN

Make sure your Sidekick is OBDII. Suzuki seem to use a couple of different protocols, my Vit (2000 model) has the OBDII socket and is definately a one-wire interface but the wires are on the wrong pins. Most Zuks seem to retain the old OBD interface as well so all you need is a shorting link (paper clip/piece of wire) to pull the codes.
