The sun is eating the plastic trim along the bottom of the side windows on my kick. Before they are totally gone I would like to do something. Anyone else noticed the problem? Are replacements available? If so, how hard are they to install? I have been thinking about coating them with silicon rubber. Any other ideas? Thanx.

You can get new or used replacement parts from Hawk Strictly Suzuki (1-888-samurai). You best defence is frequent cleaning and treatment for the palstic parts of your ride (Just like you would your dash and/or leather.

You have my sympathy. I spent a couple of weeks in Toronto in January about 15 years ago. I don't see how you people survive it. Someone told me you have short summers up there, that last year it was on a Tuesday afternoon. ;D

LOL
We didn't even get a summer here this year, it was cancelled.
As for the trim - if you mean the drivers and passenger door, the trim is covered with rubber, and it happens on all cars with that design over time. I've pealed off the rubber on past cars, to reveal the metal underneath, and painted them.

The trim I mean is on the outside, by the driver's and passengers' doors (this is a 4-dr Sport). I looked at another on a lot before I bought this one last year and the pieces were already shot. They appeared to be only two layers of plastic. I'll have to check further. If there is metal there I don't see this as much of a problem. Thanks.
