Title: 91 sidekick radio/ashtray/bezel
Post by: FergusD on November 22, 2006, 10:44:11 AM
Going to replace the radio and try to fix up ashtray install. I have posted pictures to show what is there now. From what I have seen I will need a bezel around the area and they are hard to come by. The wreckers here have a 91 tracker with the ashtray/lighter configuration, bezel still in place. It seemed like a 1 piece bezel, if it's the only 1 I find, can you replace the ashtray/clock/lighter configuration with the ashtray/lighter configuration? They did have a 91 with the clock as well, but it seemed like a 3 piece bezel with the middle piece gone, is that just broken? If it comes as 3 pieces maybe I'll go back and look closer for the missing piece. It looks really tight to get at the back of radio ie. rear mount if there is one. What all do you have to take out to remove and reinstall the radio?
Any insight is greatly appreciated before I go ripping and tearing.

Dave

First off if the one piece at the junkyard is in good condition with no cracks and you can get it for 20.00 or less pick it up and sell it on ebay. They go for around 100.00.

Yours is a three piece. If your missing the one that covers the heater controls I have one for sale P.M me for price and all.

I don't think that the one piece and yours will work together. Everything mounts different. It would be something you would have to take the time to look at. Unless someone has done it.

Thanks for the reply - I wondered if that one with the clock (which is what I have) was 3 pieces or not, the bottom piece was there, I have the top around the vents, but didn't see the middle piece - I will go and look. the bottom piece was not destroyed so I imagine the middle would not be as well, must have just been tossed out of the way. The 1 piece was still intact, I tugged from the bottom but didn't want to break it so left it till I could determine how it came out. Going to Cayo Largo this monday so won't get a chance to get back for a couple of weeks. Come to think of it, sidekicks are what we rent in cuba, they got tons of beat up ones there which they use for parts, I'll check when I'm there, maybe I can get 1 from them.
Anyone know the colour coding +/- for the rear speakers in the side panels, ours didn't have them originally, we are adding and I'm sure the wires will be there.

Thanks
